Traditional Markets, Ancient Faith, and the Timeless Beauty of Dihua Street

Old Town Charm · 3-Hour Heritage Walk

The Pulse of Old Taipei,
through Dadaocheng.

Step back in time to the most atmospheric corner of the city. Our "Old Town Charm" walking tour takes you through Dadaocheng, the historic heart of Taipei's tea and fabric trade. From the bustling energy of traditional markets to the intricate architecture of century-old shophouses, this is the ultimate way to experience "Old Taipei" style.

Why This Tour is a Must-Do

Xinyi has skyscrapers.
Dadaocheng has soul.

While Xinyi has the skyscrapers, Dadaocheng has the soul. This 3-hour journey is a sensory explosion: the scent of dried herbs and incense, the vibrant colors of traditional fabrics, and the stunning Baroque-style facades. It is the perfect blend of local life and historical preservation.

Journey Highlights

What You'll See

Three chapters of Old Taipei — markets, temples, and the merchants' street.

01

Yongle Market —
The Fabric of Local Life

We begin at Yongle Market, one of Taipei's oldest and most significant traditional markets. It is a maze of textile wholesalers and legendary local food stalls. Here, you'll see how the city's past as a trading port still influences the daily lives of residents today.

02

Xiahai City God Temple
& Dihua Street

Visit the Xiahai City God Temple, famous for its "Old Man under the Moon" (the God of Matchmaking). After soaking in the spiritual atmosphere, we wander down Dihua Street. This historic thoroughfare is lined with traditional medicine shops, tea merchants, and modern creative boutiques housed in beautifully restored buildings.

03

Lin Wu-hu House
& The Ten Buildings

We dive deep into architectural history at Lin Wu-hu Ancestral House, one of the earliest "shophouses" on Dihua Street. We conclude the tour at the Ten Buildings (十連棟), a breathtaking row of red-brick Baroque-style buildings that offer a glimpse into the wealth and grandeur of Taipei's early merchant class.
