Do I need a visa to visit China in 2026?

China has significantly expanded its visa-free entry policies in 2026 for many nationalities. Additionally, a 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit is available for citizens of 55 countries, but does not cover the duration of this tour.
If you are eligible for a 30-day visa-free stay, you may not need a visa. Other travelers will need to obtain a valid tourist visa before arriving in China.

Since policies change frequently, please check your specific eligibility. If you require a standard tourist visa, our team can provide the necessary invitation letters.

Will my apps (Google, WhatsApp, Instagram) work in China?

Many international apps are restricted in China. This tour includes a complimentary e-SIM with an integrated VPN, so you can use the internet and your favorite apps worry-free from Xi’an all the way to Urumqi.

How do I pay for things? Are credit cards accepted?

China is a leader in mobile payments. While major hotels and high-end stores accept international credit cards (Visa/Mastercard), most local vendors use Alipay or WeChat Pay. We strongly recommend setting up an Alipay account linked to your international card before arrival. Our guides will also assist you with any payment hurdles.

Is China safe for international tourists?

China is consistently one of Asia’s safest countries to visit, with low crime rates. A Taiwanese tour leader and a professional English-speaking local guide travel with the group, so there is always someone nearby to help.

Can I join this tour if I don’t speak Chinese?

Absolutely. This tour is designed for English speakers. Your English-speaking local guide handles translations and provides cultural insights throughout the journey.

What type of electrical outlets and currency are used?

China uses 220V electricity with plug types A, C, and I. We recommend bringing a universal adapter. The official currency is the RMB (Yuan). We suggest exchanging a small amount of cash for emergencies, though most transactions will be digital.

Where does the tour start and end?

The tour starts in Xi’an and ends in Urumqi. International or domestic airfares to Xi’an and from Urumqi are not included, so you can choose the flights that suit you.

What accommodation is included?

The tour includes 12 nights in selected 4-star hotels, with twin-share accomodation.

Which meals are included?

Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner are included, except on Day 1 (dinner only) and Day 13 (breakfast only).

Which sections are by bullet train?

Second-class bullet train tickets are included for the Xi’an–Tianshui and Liuyuan–Turpan sections. A dedicated, certified tour coach is provided throughout the rest of the trip.

How is luggage handled during the bullet train segments?

The bullet trains have modern, level boarding platforms, but guests are generally responsible for wheeling their luggage onto the train and placing it in the large-luggage racks at the end of the carriage. Our coach drops you off at the station entrance (e.g., Liuyuan South), and the next coach waits at the exit of your destination station (e.g., Turpan North). For guests requiring physical assistance, your guide can arrange paid station porter services (“Red Cap Porters”) in advance.

What level of physical fitness is required?

This tour involves moderate physical activity, with walking at grottoes, temples, museums and fortresses, and on the sand at Mingsha Mountain. The Crescent Moon Spring visit includes a camel ride into the dunes, an electric cart for the exit, and shoe covers. We recommend comfortable walking shoes.

Turpan is extremely hot in summer. How do you prevent heatstroke?

Our tour coach has a high-output climate control system, and chilled mineral water is provided free every day. If you prefer to avoid the peak summer heat, our spring and autumn departures offer moderate temperatures.

What kind of weather should I prepare for?

Conditions change along the 13-day route. Summer surface temperatures at Turpan’s Flaming Mountains can reach 80°C, while the Heavenly Lake of Tianshan sits at 1,907 meters. Spring and autumn departures offer the most moderate temperatures. Bring layers; we will send a packing list before departure.

What makes the “Turpan Roasted Whole Lamb” and “Uyghur Specialty Meal” special?

The Turpan Roasted Whole Lamb is local pasture-raised lamb marinated in traditional spices and slow-roasted in a traditional pit oven, giving a crispy exterior and tender meat. The Uyghur Specialty Meal features polo (hand-pulled pilaf), baked buns and seasonal local grapes.

Can you accommodate special dietary requirements? What if I cannot eat mutton?

Yes. We can accommodate vegetarian, halal and most allergy-related requests. Please let us know at the time of booking. Options may be simpler in remote areas, but your guide will make sure you have safe and suitable meals.

Can I book a single room?

Yes. Single occupancy can be arranged for an additional fee, subject to hotel availability. The single room price is listed under “Transparent Pricing & Inclusions” on the tour page. Please confirm your request as early as possible.

How do I pay for the tour?

No payment is needed when you send an inquiry. Once your place is confirmed, you secure it with full payment. We accept international bank transfers and PayPal, our office will provide detailed payment instructions.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

We provide a recommended arrival window for smooth transfers. If your flight is delayed within that window, we will be there. For major delays outside the time frame, alternative transport may need to be arranged at an additional cost.
