Shangdong Tour FAQ | Guide to Entry, Connectivity & Local Payments

Do I need a visa to visit China in 2026?

China has significantly expanded its visa-free entry policies in 2026 for many nationalities. Additionally, a 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit is available for citizens of 55 countries. Since policies change frequently, please check your specific eligibility. If you require a standard tourist visa, our team can provide the necessary invitation letters.

Will my apps (Google, WhatsApp, Instagram) work in China?

Many international apps are restricted. To ensure you stay connected, our tour includes a dedicated eSIM with an integrated VPN. This allows you to use Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Gmail seamlessly throughout Shandong without extra setup.

How do I pay for things? Are credit cards accepted?

China is a leader in mobile payments. While major hotels and high-end stores accept international credit cards (Visa/Mastercard), most local vendors use Alipay or WeChat Pay. We strongly recommend setting up an Alipay account linked to your international card before arrival. Our guides will also assist you with any payment hurdles.

Is China safe for international tourists?

Shandong is known for its "Confucian hospitality" and is incredibly safe for foreigners. The crime rate is extremely low. Our "Premium Dual-Lead Support" ensures you have a dedicated staff member nearby at all times for added peace of mind.

Can I join this tour if I don't speak Chinese?

Absolutely. This tour is specifically designed for English speakers. You will be accompanied by a Local English-Speaking Guide who handles all translations and provides deep cultural insights, ensuring a smooth and immersive experience.

What type of electrical outlets and currency are used?

China uses 220V electricity with plug types A, C, and I. We recommend bringing a universal adapter. The official currency is the RMB (Yuan). We suggest exchanging a small amount of cash for emergencies, though most transactions will be digital.

What level of physical fitness is required?

This tour involves moderate physical activity. Expect significant walking at historic landmarks. To ensure the tour is accessible, the ascent of Mount Tai is handled via dual cable cars, offering breathtaking panoramic views without the strain of a thousand-step climb. We recommend comfortable walking or hiking shoes.

Can you accommodate special dietary requirements?

Yes, we can arrange for vegetarian, halal, or allergy-conscious meals with advance notice. In more remote areas options may be more limited, but your guide will always assist in finding suitable food.

How difficult is the climb at Mount Tai?

To make the experience accessible and enjoyable, our itinerary includes cable cars rides. This allows you to ascend and descend with breathtaking panoramic views while minimizing physical strain. There is still some walking involved at the summit and around the Daimiao Temple, so comfortable walking shoes are required.

What is a "Kong Family Banquet" or a "Shandong-Style Eight-Bowl Feast"?

Shandong (Lu Cuisine) is one of the four great schools of Chinese cooking.

  • The Kong Family Banquet in Qufu is a ritualistic meal historically served to the descendants of Confucius, focusing on exquisite presentation and meaning.
  • The Eight-Bowl Feast in Linyi is a traditional celebration meal featuring eight hearty, soul-warming dishes served in large bowls.

Will I get to taste the beer at the Tsingtao Beer Museum?

Yes! Your visit to the Tsingtao Beer Museum includes a professional tasting session. You will have the chance to sample the freshest "raw" beer (unfiltered) directly from the production line, a treat rarely found outside of Qingdao.

Are the "DIY" activities suitable for beginners?

Definitely. The DIY woodblock New Year painting activity at Yangjiabu is designed for all skill levels. It is a hands-on way to experience local folk culture and create your own traditional souvenir to take home.

What should I expect from the "Langya" Cultural Performance?

The Guoxiu “Langya” is an immersive, large-scale production using high-tech lighting and traditional arts to tell the history of the ancient Langya region. It is a visual spectacle that requires no Chinese language skills to enjoy.

What is "Zibo-style Barbecue," and why is it special?

Zibo Barbecue became a massive "internet-famous" trend in China. Unlike standard BBQ, it involves small stoves at the table, where you wrap grilled meats in a small pancake with a sprig of fresh scallion and a special sauce. It is a social, DIY dining experience that is unique to this province.

Is there a lot of travel between cities?

Shandong is a large province, but we use high-quality transport to ensure comfort. Key stretches like Jinan to Zibo to Weifang are managed to allow for sightseeing stops (like the Liuli Glass Workshop) along the way, rather than just long hours on the road.

What kind of weather should I prepare for?

Shandong has four distinct seasons. Spring and Autumn are mild and ideal for exploring the historic streets of Qingdao and Jinan. Summers can be humid, while Winters are cold, especially at the summit of Mount Tai. We recommend checking the 7-day forecast and bringing layers and comfortable shoes for the various walking tours.

Can I book a single room?

Yes. Single occupancy can be arranged for an additional fee, subject to hotel availability. Please confirm your request as early as possible.

How do I pay for the tour?

We accept international bank transfers and PayPal. Once you are ready to book, our office will provide detailed payment instructions and secure links.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

We provide a recommended arrival window for smooth transfers. If your flight is delayed within that window, we will be there. For major delays outside the time frame, alternative transport may need to be arranged at an additional cost.
